New Manitoulin OPP sergeants promoted, to be stationed in Gore Bay, Manitowaning

MANITOULIN – Two new sergeants have been promoted and welcomed to the Manitoulin-Espanola OPP detachment.

Last Friday, Manitoulin-Espanola OPP Inspector Megan Cavanagh presented newly-promoted Sergeant Marc Salisbury with his badge and warrant. Sergeant Salisbury has close to eight years of service with the OPP. He will be stationed out of the Gore Bay detachment. 

Sergeant Salisbury has transferred from the Middlesex OPP and is looking forward to residing with his family on Manitoulin.

As well, Sergeant Chris Welsey, who had previously served at the East Algoma OPP detachment, has now become a sergeant for Manitoulin-Espanola OPP and will be stationed at the Manitowaning OPP office. A member of the Missanabie Cree First Nation, he started his career in First Nations policing and has 14 years policing experience.

Sergeant Wesley is an active member of the OPP provincial liaison team.  He is married, with older children and three grandchildren. He is looking forward to living and working on Manitoulin.
