Manitoulin Brewing Company to celebrate the launch of its newest brew

LITTLE CURRENT—Manitoulin Brewing Company (MBC) is introducing its newest brew, a lager, at a launch party next Saturday, February 24 at the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre.

Owners Blair Hagman and Nishin Meawasige were tight lipped about the name of the beer, but said it would follow suit with the other MBC brews, giving a nod to all things Manitoulin.

“We are excited to reveal the new lager to the public,” said Mr. Hagman. “This is a light lager with a really crisp, clean taste.”

“It is a light golden colour, bright and refreshing,” added Mr. Meawasige.

The pair said they wanted to launch the new beer at the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre.

“We wanted to collaborate with the hotel,” said Mr. Hagman. “They just have such a beautiful venue, we thought it would be a great place. We also wanted to do it now, during the off season, to help build excitement for the summer and get the word out.”

The lager will join the MBC’s other core brews including Swing Bridge Blonde Ale, Bridal Veil Pale Ale and the Cup and Saucer English Ale.

“All of MBC’s beers will be on tap at the launch event,” said Mr. Hagman, “as will our new small batch brews (a cream ale, a collaboration with Isleaway honey from Lake Manitou, and a porter, which contains dark chocolate sourced by Manitoulin Chocolate Works in Kagawong).”

There will be live music by Rodger, Disarm! featuring Island ex-pat Jason Kift on drums.

“Rodger, Disarm! is great,” Mr. Hagman said. “They performed at the brewery last summer and were awesome. We are excited to have them back for the launch.”

There will also be a free poutine bar and wings.

Tickets are $15 in advance and are available at the Manitoulin Brewing Company on Highway 6 in Little Current or the Manitoulin Hotel and Conference Centre at 66 Meredith Street in Little Current. Tickets are also available at the door for $20, however there is a cap of 75 tickets available due to space limitations.
