Passed away with family by his side on November 13, 2017, at the age of 68. Beloved husband of Marnie (Mary Harfield) for over 45 years. Lovingly remembered father of Brad (Amy) and Jillian (Jeffrey). Dear father-in-law of Michelle. Cherished grandfather of Cameron, Trenton, Emma, and Brianna. Loving brother of Peggy (Tom), Barb (Greg), Dianne (Max), Marilyn (Gord), Yvonne (Ed), Terry (Karen) and favourite cousin Joan (Russ). Will be greatly missed by Harfield family: Len (Rod), Gloria (Greg), Keith (Gaétane), and Ann (Bob). Predeceased by his parents Howard and Bernice Bond, mother-in-law Jean Harfield, and infant granddaughter Elizabeth Smith. After completing secondary school in Mindemoya, Russ moved to Sudbury to become a licensed industrial electrician. After an eleven-year career at INCO, Russ and family moved to Little Current, where he successfully owned and operated Bonds Stationers for thirty years. Russ enjoyed boating the North Channel in summers, and snowmobiling Northern Ontario in winters, with family and friends. He also greatly enjoyed the family cottage on Big Lake. Russ took tremendous pleasure in hockey, hunting, curling, golfing, travelling, and wintering in Florida. He will be remembered for his exuberant love of life and laughter! A celebration of life was held at the Mindemoya Missionary Church on Thursday, November 16, 2017, at 1 pm. Memorial donations may be made to the Mindemoya or Little Current Hospital Auxiliary, Northern Cancer Foundation, or the Mindemoya Missionary Church. Island Funeral Home can only accept cheques for all charitable donations.
